Alexander City residents are paying the highest price per gallon since the Iraq War, and the officials warn the price at the pump is going to surge even higher.

According to the Energy Information Administration, the gasoline market is following a trend seen in 2000 and 2001 during September and October. In 2000, gas rose 11.4 cents per gallon in a four-week period. Likewise, in 2001, prices hiked 16.9 cents per gallon.
