It’s preseason. That’s what everyone says when there is a mistake prior to the regular-season opener. If a referee blows a call in a preseason Monday Night Football game, you can expect Al Michaels to say something along the line of, “It’s preseason for the refs, too, John.”

Well, it was preseason for everyone at Friday night’s Benjamin Russell fall jamboree football game. Not even Mother Nature escaped without messing up a little … or a lot. The storm clouds moved in just before the game and then the sky opened up and drenched the awaiting crowd. The start of the game was delayed for about a half hour, but luckily the Sportplex field drains very well and play wasn’t disrupted too much.
