Stanhope Elmore had boys and girls wrestlers on the podium at Battle of the ‘Burg Thanksgiving tournament.

Stanhope Elmore wrestlers participated in the annual Battle in the ‘Burg individual wrestling tournament on Nov. 22. The boys placed fifth out of 21 teams, while the girls placed second overall out of 18 teams. As far as individual results, Kaleb Seals (106 pounds) finished the day with a fourth-place finish. In the quarterfinals, he quickly advanced by pinning Ryan Pierce from Shelby County High in 1:53. He fell in the semifinals to Wetumpka’s Blake Adams by pin in 1:02. In the consolation semifinals, Seals rebounded with a dominant win, pinning Brody Hayes of Bartlett High School in just 33 seconds to earn a spot in the third-place match. For third place, Seals fell to Jon Boone from Gardendale High by fall in 1:17.
Caleb Allen (132) wrestled his way to second place. In the second round, he quickly pinned Northridge’s Joel Rainer in just 38 seconds. Allen continued his dominance in the quarterfinals, pinning Landon Shinn from Moody High School. In the semifinals, he secured his spot in the finals by defeating Braddoue Dominic of Bartlett High School by pin in 1:25. For first place, Allen fell to Moody High School’s Karson Poe by technical fall, 23-7, in five minutes and 43 seconds.
