An extreme cold watch is in effect throughout Central Alabama, and to combat such possible temperatures, warming stations are opening around Tallapoosa County and a local church is opening its doors tonight and Monday night.
According to Tallapoosa County Emergency Management Agency director Jason Moran, Family Worship Center, located at 427 Church St., Alexander Cty will open tonight from 7 p.m.-7 a.m. and again on Monday night from 7 p.m.-7 a.m.
Temperatures will fall below freezing tonight across all of
Central Alabama with residual moisture on local roadways. This will
lead to the possibility of hazardous travel in some areas. Black
ice may create slick spots on some local roads...bridges and
overpasses. Please use extra caution if you have to travel.
