The Alabama Department of Human Resources received notification Thursday morning from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service the federal government reopened and “State agencies must take immediate steps to ensure households receive their full November allotments promptly,” according to a press release from Gov. Kay Ivey’s office.

Today, DHR is transmitting the necessary files to the Electronic Benefit Transfer card vendor to begin placing allotments on cards of clients whose regular issuance date has passed and to November approved applicants. Benefits should be available Thursday after processing of the files is completed, provided there are no unforeseen problems, the press release stated.
