Alexander City and Lake Martin residents will finally be able to breathe a sigh of relief — Alabama Highway 63 is scheduled to open Monday.

After a lot of unforeseen issues Alabama Highway 63 at U.S. Highway 280 will finally be open Monday.

In a press release from Alabama Department of Transportation, the road will reopen to traffic mid-morning Monday, Aug. 24.  The half-mile section of the highway located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 280 and Highway 63 has been closed since May 2025 to convert the original 1931 bridge to a culvert.
