Oliver gives updates from the state legislature

Alabama state representative Ed Oliver attended the Lake Martin-Dadeville Area Kiwanis meeting to give updates on the legislative session.

As they say, hard work doesn’t go unnoticed. For his efforts in getting the Anti-DEI or “divisive concepts” bill passed, Alabama State Rep. Ed Oliver recently won the Defender of Freedom Award during the Alabama Republican Party 2025 Winter Dinner.

This was a three-year effort on Oliver’s part. The “divisive concepts” bill, or Act 2024-34, started as a Republican caucus bill Oliver was asked to carry. The bill was passed in the House of Representatives two years in a row, but it kept getting halted in the Senate.
