Town council decides building will not be named after Dowdell, Thomas

After three council meetings, the Camp Hill town council decided not to name the council building after Philstavious L. Dowdell or Karmeshae N. Thomas. The building remains the informally named council building.

Mayor Messiah Williams-Cole proposed the naming of the council building to be “Dowdell Thomas Community Building” during the May 15 town council meeting. This Monday, the council did not second the motion for the renaming and the motion died.

During the May 1 meeting, Williams-Cole initially proposed naming the council building solely after Philstavious L. Dowdell, who died at the age of 18 during the April 15 shooting. Williams-Cole also proposed naming the town hall after Karmeshae N. Thomas, who died at the age of 19 in a car accident.
