If there’s any doubt first responders step up to help each other in a pinch, the fact that Weogufka Volunteer Fire Department will soon be the owner of not one, but two firetrucks is definitely proof.

Weogufka Volunteer Fire Department was gifted with a replacement firetruck from McCalla Fire & Rescue after its fire truck was totalled in an accident last month.

The volunteer fire department lost its only firetruck last month when its pumper truck was totaled in a one-vehicle accident while responding to a call for mutual aid in Stewartville. The driver, firefighter Sam Higginbotham, was the only person in the truck, a Facebook post reported. Higginbotham was taken to Coosa Valley Medical Center, but was treated and released.
