For many boaters, a day on Lake Martin doesn’t end when the sun begins to dip below the horizon. Instead, summer evenings often include setting out to catch one of the lake’s famous sunsets, enjoying dinner at a waterfront restaurant or taking in a relaxing cruise beneath a sky full of stars.

While boating after dark can be one of the most enjoyable ways to experience the lake, it also requires a different approach than boating during the day. Once daylight begins to disappear, the shoreline starts to look different, distances become harder to judge and operators need to rely more on their patience, preparation and heightened awareness.
