Anemone Stinkhorn

When you’re looking around outdoors, every now and then you’ll spot something that looks completely foreign. That’s definitely the case with this month’s Nature of the Lake subject.

The anemone stinkhorn is a mushroom that somehow managed to travel halfway around the world and end up growing wild along a street in Alabama, where it certainly looks out of place. This striking fungus is native to southern Australia and many South Pacific islands, including New Zealand.
