Although, we first saw it on the market more than 10 years ago, it was not until the pandemic hit in 2020 that the air fryer became the hottest appliance on the market. Its undeniable popularity coincided with people working from home and becoming more interested in cooking healthy recipes. There was a trend with easy, homemade comfort food. The air fryer allowed people to create simple, fast, healthy meals with great results. This countertop appliance has encouraged and motivated people to try vegetables with a light spray of oil and in a few minutes, they are ready. The perfect selling point was being able to create versions of fried favorites without a lot of oil. Air fryer cookbooks, social media accounts and instructional videos continue to spread the word.

The air fryer is a small countertop appliance that cooks food quickly, with or without minimal oil. It will roast, broil or bake. It heats up quickly and begins cooking food immediately. The heating elements inside are on the top of the unit and partner with a fan just underneath the heating element to circulate hot air in a very efficient way. This top-down method of cooking allows food to be cooked faster than in a conventional oven.
