Each cool spell creates a cooler layer of water on the very top of the lake that will essentially sink, causing a turnover

October might possibly be the best month of the year around our little slice of the country to be outdoors. It marks the true transition out of the heat and humidity of summer, and with each day as we progress toward November, the nights get slightly crisper. It’s not uncommon to start the morning in a sweatshirt and a light pair of pants and be down to shorts and a T-shirt by afternoon.

When fishing, there might be a light fog on the water in the early morning from the cooler night temps intersecting with the warm surface water of the lake. These are the days we anticipate for months as anglers because falling temperatures this time of year signal great fishing!
