I feel old. Lake Martin is celebrating its 100th birthday this summer, and it has dawned on me that I have been enjoying the lake for almost 60 years myself!

It never occurred to me that at 9 years old, when I jumped into Lake Martin for the first time, it was a relatively “young” lake. Back then, there were a lot of adults in this area who could remember a time before the Tallapoosa River was dammed up to create Lake Martin. It is hard to imagine that this wonderful resource was not always here.
