Sailing into the Future

Dixie Sailing Club hosts annual youth camp at Lake Martin

Standing on the docks of the Dixie Sailing Club on a warm June afternoon, members and visitors are not only greeted by the gentle lapping of Lake Martin’s waters and the crisp summer breeze, but by the laughter of children. High-pitched, energetic and unbothered by the blazing sun, it’s the sound of the next generation falling in love with setting sail on the water.

For more than a decade, the DSC Youth Program has been mentoring local children into confident sailors through its highly anticipated summer camps. Held over two separate sessions each summer, these three-day camps give children – some as young as 4 to 7 years old – the tools to navigate their own future on the water.
