Jan. 1 dawned clear and cold at Wind Creek State Park, and at 10 a.m., Naturalist Dylan Ogle met 15 hikers who turned out for the Alabama State Parks’ First Day Hike initiative. They discovered beauty, color, comaraderie and wildlife on the 3.1-mile trek along the park’s Speckled Snake Trail.
