Container Gardens

Small yards, shady lots and time constraints keep many would-be gardeners from growing vegetables in the dirt, but gardening in containers could offer some solutions, said SpringHouse Garden Club’s Martha Tucker, who plants herbs and tomatoes in containers every year.

“The main reason I do it is that I don’t have a good place in the yard that gets enough sun,” Tucker said. “I put the containers in the driveway, and the dogs guard them from squirrels.”
