Guests relax inside the new shop.

In the heart of Reeltown, where the pace of life usually matches the steady hum of the highway, a new kind of energy is brewing. At 17267 Highway 49 South, a building that served as an art studio for nearly a decade has opened its doors to the community, transforming the space from a quiet workshop into a vibrant gathering spot known as The Painted Mug.

The shop, which celebrated its soft opening on April 11 and a formal grand opening on May 2, is the vision of Julie Rice. Born and raised in Reeltown, the transition from artist to barista felt natural for her.
