The Queen of the South hails from Alexander City, and more specifically, out of Benjamin Russell High School. On Dec. 12, the Wildcats girls wrestling team traveled to Enterprise to participate in the Queen of the South wrestling tournament, with Brooklyn Cottingham taking home the top spot in the 185-pound division.

Cottingham opened the first round against Baker’s Baileigh McKee, flattening her in 1:05. She progressed through the next two rounds, pinning both Barlett’s Terrellyn Cannon and Huntsville’s Sariyah Blackburn to advance to the quarterfinals.
