Former Benjamin Russell football coach Steve Savarese has served in a multitude of roles in his time. From coach, teacher, athletic director, administrator, to even serving as the AHSAA’s Executive Director from 2007-2015 — he’s pretty much done it all.
His efforts through his career ultimately got him inducted into the Alabama High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2010 and the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 2019. Now, in 2026, he’s entering another illustrious group. On Monday, it was announced that Savarese is to be inducted into the NFHS National High School Hall of Fame along with 12 other individuals.
