T. C. Russell Field Airport will receive $1.2 million for the rehabilitation of its runway. The grant, which will be provided by the Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration, was given to the airport to update its runway.

City officials took bids for the rehabilitation project at the T.C. Russell Field airport earlier this month. The high bid came in at $2.5 million and the low bid was for $1.3 million, according to community development coordinator Randy Thomas. He said the runway repairs are necessary because the airport runway is cracked and worn in some places.
