FBC hosts National Day of Prayer

Ronnie Palmer says the closing prayer at National Day of Prayer on Thursday night.

Every year, millions of people around the U.S. gather for National Day of Prayer to pray for different task forces of the country. Every year, the president of the United States must issue a proclamation that the first Thursday of May is recognized as such. This bill was passed in 1998 during Bill Clinton’s presidency. Twenty-six years later, communities across the nation honor this day every year.

On Thursday citizens of Alexander City joined together at First Baptist Church to participate in this year’s National Day of Prayer. Specific task forces were prayed over by community members within each industry. This year’s National Day of Prayer theme was “Lift up the word – Light up the World.”
