Local joins state council on developmental disabilities

Rina Smith, right, stands with executive director of Alabama Council on Developmental Disabilities Darryl Powell.

Last month, Rina Smith got a letter informing her she had been appointed to the Alabama Council on Developmental Disabilities.

The council is made up of both disabled individuals and advocates. Smith serves on the council as a parent with an autistic kid. Her 11-year-old son Bryce is nonverbal and got her invested in advocating for those with developmental disabilities.
