A head-on collision that occurred one mile from Goodwater on Alabama 9 resulted in three injuries and the death of a former Benjamin Russell High School football player.

Cortavious Jarman Minnifield, 20, of Alexander City, died at 2:20 a.m. as a result of injuries sustained during the wreck that occurred at 3:25 p.m. Sunday, according to Alabama Department of Public Safety Spokeswoman Robyn Litchfield.
