Tallapoosa County Commission begins short-term rental, lodging tax

This December Tallapoosa County joins dozens of counties in Alabama by having a short-term rental lodging tax in unincorporated areas.

Under state legislation, Tallapoosa County now has a short-term rental tax that went into effect Dec. 1.

This lodging tax is only for unincorporated areas and does not add to any preexisting lodging taxes within city limits in the county. County commissioner John McKelvey said this tax also doesn’t cost local residents anything.
