According to a press release, the Alabama Department of Human Resources received specific guidance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service on Oct. 24, regarding the suspension of SNAP benefits and procedures for the month of November due to the federal government shutdown.

Due to the federal government shutdown, beginning Nov. 1 SNAP benefits will be suspended.

Recipients will be able to use benefits issued to their electronic benefit transfer card prior to Nov. 1, at any SNAP authorized retailer.
