There was an important development in the war against terrorism recently that did not get enough attention. A large group of Muslim scholars and lawyers from the United States and Canada issued a “fatwa,” or legal ruling, which condemned “all acts of terrorism” as forbidden.

Even more significant: they urged fellow Muslims to join the battle, saying it is their “civic and religious duty … to cooperate with law enforcement authorities to protect the lives of civilians.”
