Winter fishing dress code

One thing I despise is being cold, but I love fishing in colder weather more. 

There was a time when I thought fishing was for the warm seasons and hunting was for the cold, but not anymore. Some of the biggest bass I’ve ever caught on Lake Martin have come during the cold months. A Lake Martin personal best bass at 8.5 pounds came in December one year. The second largest, more than 7 pounds, was in January of another. The fish are generally as healthy as they’re going to be at this time of year, and it’s one of the small windows available on a relatively clear water lake to catch one of these local giants. Cold weather fishing has its challenges. How to dress and prepare can make all the difference in beating the bite of the cold and focusing more on the bite of the fish.
