If there’s one thing we know about Tallapoosa County, it responds well in a crisis situation.
Over the last few years, the county has been hit with multiple tornadoes, a mass shooting and a microburst in Alexander City. Each and every time, we’ve been amazed at the outpouring of response.

* WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 1 above expected.
* WHERE...Autauga, Bibb, Blount, Bullock, Calhoun, Chambers,
Cherokee, Chilton, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Etowah,
Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lamar, Lee, Lowndes, Macon,
Marengo, Marion, Montgomery, Perry, Pickens, Randolph, Russell,
Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Talladega, Tallapoosa, Tuscaloosa,
Walker, and Winston Counties.
* WHEN...From midnight Sunday Night to 10 AM CST Monday.
* IMPACTS...Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin
is exposed to these temperatures. An extended period of
subfreezing temperatures could cause pipes to burst.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.
Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.
To prevent freezing and possible bursting of pipes they should be
wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly.
