With the 2026 Alabama Legislature starting up again on Jan. 13, it might be good to see where we’ve been before we look at where we’re going. Last year’s session convened on Feb. 4, and adjourned May 14 (sine die). Currently, the Legislature is Republican controlled, with a GOP supermajority in both chambers. Across roughly 30 legislative days, lawmakers debated, amended, and passed hundreds of bills.
