COACH OF THE YEAR: For Justin Chandler, coaching is bigger than baseball

Edgewood Academy’s baseball team has been operating under a new motto this season: life is bigger than baseball. It means that everything the team does is for a higher purpose, it means becoming great men, great fathers and great husbands. 

“That’s the most important thing,” Edgewood coach Justin Chandler said. “It’s not about the wins and losses, the state championships. My ultimate goal is to prepare them to be successful employees, employers, fathers, husbands, good members of society. If we won the state championships this year, that would have been icing on the cake, but I know for a fact that the seven seniors that just left us are prepared to take on more than they were six months ago.”
