Everybody knows you can’t win a baseball game with one player. It takes a whole team; all nine batters in the lineup, all four infielders, all three outfielders, not to mention a pitcher and a catcher. Every single player has to do their job, and sometimes more, to win a baseball game.

Last week, Elmore County’s Shelton Darnell tried his hardest to prove that theory wrong. There was a storm moving in over Eclectic as the Panthers took on the Beauregard Hornets in the first game of a three-game area series.

Ana Sofia Meyer / TPI Elmore County ace Shelton Darnell recorded 12 strikeouts against Beauregard, leading the Panthers to their first win of area play. Darnell also tripled, bringing two runners across home plate to put ECHS in the lead, 4-3.
