Wetumpka guard Aaliyah Humphrey (2) attempts to drive the lane against No. 1-ranked Park Crossing in a Tuesday night non-area standoff. The Indians lost 43-73 for their sixth loss of the season.

Wetumpka’s girls basketball team knew what to expect heading into their matchup with the No. 1 ranked team in Class 6A according to Alabama Sports Writers Association’s most recent poll. Knowing what to expect doesn’t make the battle any easier, especially not against a team like Park Crossing (20-1).

The Indians headed out to face PCHS on Tuesday night in a non-area matchup, intended to test their fortitude and post-season capability. After last week’s loss to Stanhope Elmore, Wetumpka coach Harriet Winchester has honed in on the team’s defensive abilities.
