Wetumpka’s girls basketball team knew what to expect heading into their matchup with the No. 1 ranked team in Class 6A according to Alabama Sports Writers Association’s most recent poll. Knowing what to expect doesn’t make the battle any easier, especially not against a team like Park Crossing (20-1).
The Indians headed out to face PCHS on Tuesday night in a non-area matchup, intended to test their fortitude and post-season capability. After last week’s loss to Stanhope Elmore, Wetumpka coach Harriet Winchester has honed in on the team’s defensive abilities.

Warning, which is in effect until 6 PM CST this evening.
* WINDS...Northwest 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 22 percent.
* IMPACTS...The combination of a dry air mass and windy conditions
will result in critical fire weather conditions. Outdoor burning
is not recommended. Current wildfires could worsen due to the
winds.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
