Cliff Williams / TPI Student applaud a speakerÕs remarks at the ribbon cutting for the Academy Craft of Training in Montgomery.

Students from Elmore and Tallapoosa counties are part of the inaugural class at the Academy of Craft Training Center in Montgomery.

The center provides opportunities that might not be available to students otherwise. The ACT center in Montgomery is the fourth location in Alabama to provide technical training for juniors and seniors through the Alabama Department of Education. The idea is to bring industry into the classrooms and labs to help the center develop the curriculum. In turn the students are being instructed by teachers coming from industry. The classrooms are frequented by industry leaders and those who are hiring.
