Members of the Elmore County Board of Education will get paid more come the next election cycle.

At its annual meeting Tuesday, the board voted 5-1 to increase board members' monthly compensation from $600 to $900. It is the first increase in 24 years and is allowed by new state legislation. The board previously voted down the measure. Both times member Wendell Saxon has brought the increase up. Board member Brian Ward voted for the increase.
