An Alabama Power Foundation grant will aid in the development of a formalized trail access plan for the Wetumpka Impact Crater.
According to the City of Wetumpka, the impact crater is one of Alabama’s most significant geological and tourism assets. The trail planning effort is a partnership with the Wetumpka Impact Crater Commission and will evaluate the potential future trail system to enhance public access, educational programming and visitor experiences. The proposed trail plan will look at sustainable route options, access points, roadway connections and land within and around the crater area.
