In the 1980 NFL season, the Cleveland Browns coined the name “The Kardiac Kids” based on the number of games they played that came down to the wire. They finished the season 11-5, playing in 12 games that all fell within one possession — going 9-3 in them.

Now, nearly five decades later and a swapping of sports in between, the Kardiac Kids have been revived in Alexander City with the Benjamin Russell baseball team. This season, Benjamin Russell is off to a 9-3 start, and seemingly all of their games come down to that final inning, or even a few extra innings if needed.
