The term “to protect and to serve” was coined in 1955 and has become the official motto of the police academy. To show honor and respect for this service, a Back the Blue event was held at the Tallapoosa County Courthouse on Thursday morning.
The turnout was impressive despite the inclement weather and the ceremony was moved indoors, with social distancing in effect.

Pike, Randolph, Russell, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Talladega,
Tallapoosa, Tuscaloosa and Walker.
* WHEN...From 7 AM CDT this morning through this evening.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Area creeks
and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain.
