PADDLES CLASH Dragon boats surge toward finish line

Area organizations paddled their way to fun at the Lake Martin Dragon Boat Races Saturday at Wind Creek State Park. Teams from the city of Alexander City and Dadeville, the Alexander City Chamber of Commerce, Lake Martin Dadeville Chamber of Commerce, churches and schools came together for a friendly competition in teams of 10 paddlers. Drummers dressed in characters to lead their teams. Volunteers also dressed as a dragon and toured through the crowd. Explore Lake Martin director Sandra Fuller said they plan on bringing dragon boat races back to the lake.
