The number of suspensions and truant students are down sharply in the Alexander City School System this school year and administrators are crediting a renewed emphasis on discipline and two new programs for the change.

“We’re being very proactive this year,” Pat Mann, the director of student services said. “Students are being made very aware about what the expectations are.”
