Physicals needed for student-athletes to compete

Alexander City Schools superintendent Dr. Jose Reyes urges all student-athletes to complete their annual physical.

As the 2025-2026 athletics season quickly approaches there is one thing everything a student-athlete needs to square away — a physical.

Physicals are an annual check-up that every athlete in seventh to 12th grade must complete before the season if they hope to participate in AHSAA-sanctioned sports. The main purpose of getting a physical is to make sure there are no underlying medical issues for seemingly healthy athletes.
