Youth turned experienced: Benjamin Russell baseball reloads in 2026

Entering 2025, the Benjamin Russell baseball team had to replace five seniors — all of whom had played at the varsity level since their freshman season. Which was beneficial when the team reached the second round of the playoffs in 2024. However, when that production left, it left the Wildcats with holes to fill.

Last year, Benjamin Russell filled those holes with players getting their first real workload at the varsity level. Flashes were shown, but some growing pains came along the way. The team finished the 2025 campaign with a 12-14 record, eliminated from the playoffs by Hueytown in the first round.
