Each year in February, bright clusters of happy yellow daffodils begin to appear among the winter browns, grays and dark greens of Lake Martin. These splashes of color often show up in tended garden beds. Other times, they are clumped in fields, patches of forest or places that were once home sites. These flowers are very hardy, and, once established, they’ll often outlast the houses where they were planted.

These upbeat blossoms of spring are usually one of three varieties: Narcissus, daffodil or jonquil.
