Dear Editor,

I am writing this letter on the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, which I believe is a document as perfect in its conception and is as spiritual a plan for government as has existed in the history of mankind. Followed in a few years by the American Constitution and over the first half of our country’s existence the Bill of Rights, this simple but powerful statement has been the glue which has held our great country together throughout the past 200 plus years. Students of history will understand that our nation can be compared favorably to some of the greatest cultures of the past including those of Egypt, Greece, the Chinese Dynasties, and Rome. I am proud of our great country and can think of no place in the world where there is a better life than the United States of America. In spite of my enthusiasm for and emotional connection to this country, I have serious concerns about what has happened to our culture and the fabric of our society in the past few years. I am convinced that President Obama and his supporters have placed us on a downward slide and have hastened the destruction of the ideals upon which our blessed country was founded.
