Paul Harvey Aurandt — known to the world as Paul Harvey — was an American radio broadcaster for ABC Radio. His “News and Comment” and “Rest of the Story” radio programs aired Mondays through Saturdays from 1951 until 2009. His voice was heard by an estimated 24 million people per week as he aired on 1200 radio stations in the United States as well as the Armed Forces Network. Harvey began each installment with an excited, “Hello Americans, this is Paul Harvey. Stand by for NEWS!” Many also recall how he ended his broadcasts: “Paul Harvey … good day!” He also wrote a newspaper column that appeared in over 300 newspapers each week, reaching even more followers and fans.
Paul Harvey had a special way of spinning a story using his magnificent vocal talents. For over 40 years, he would dedicate his Christmas Day broadcast to this telling of “The Man and the Birds.” Here is the text from his 2007 program.
