Every strong project starts in the layers no one notices. Long before the first truck of asphalt arrives, the ground is being shaped and compacted in a way that decides whether the surface will last. Good foundations are about two things: compaction you can rely on, and air that keeps the site working clean. Neither of these makes for flashy photos, but both set the pace for the rest of the job. That’s why you’ll often see crews leaning onplate compactors. They’re not the biggest machines, but they’re the ones that keep the tricky areas tight, like the curbs, the trench lifts, the spaces around covers. You know, the places where roads and yards usually fail first.
