Wetumpka’s Lalah Culpepper has made a name for herself on the softball field all year, leading the Indians back to the state tournament and back into the mix of top programs in the state. Culpepper is the epitome of a triple threat: Wetumpka’s ace pitcher, the most consistent hitter and a leader in the infield.

Last week that culminated as Culpepper was named Class 6A’s Hitter of the Year by the Alabama Sports Writers Association. When he heard the news, Wetumpka softball coach Daryl Otwell was happy but unsurprised by the recognition.
