Good Hope Baptist Church has sat in its current spot since 2005. The first church building for the congregation, then known as Missionary Baptist Church of Christ at Good Hope, was erected in 1848 not far from the church's current location.

On October 1, 1847, a group of 13 men and women gathered in Eclectic, Alabama to establish Missionary Baptist Church of Christ at Good Hope.
James Thompson, J. C. Ingram, John Ware, Young D. Harrington, Robert Stewart, Priscilla Thompson, Mary Ingram, Mary L. Thompson, Rebecca Ware, Tabitha Harrington, Clarissa Jackson, Hartha Higginson and Mary Stewart became the charter members of what is now known as Good Hope Baptist Church.

The original building and home to the then Missionary Baptist Church of Christ at Good Hope, now called Good Hope Baptist Church, was made of wood and completed on November 8, 1848.

Once the church outgrew the first building, it was taken apart and the scrap wood was used in the construction of the church's brick building in 1948. The building wasn't completed until July 1949.

The congregation continued to outgrow their facilities and in 1967, more room was needed, and an annex was constructed on the east side of the church for more Sunday School classes, a pastor's office and large fellowship room for gathering.

In May 2000, a committee was formed to move forward on erecting a new structure on the 15.53 acres near the original church that had been purchased in October 1998 by auction for $57,750. The groundbreaking was April 24, 2004, and the first service was held in the new facility on Easter 2005. The cost this time was $1.8 million.

The church finished up a round of improvements in 2011 with the addition of a new wing of Sunday School classes, expansion of the sanctuary and the addition of a Family Life Center.
