Members of the Tallassee Board of Education have never been given any compensation for their roles.

Decades ago, board members were appointed. When Jack Venable was in the legislature in the 1990s, he sponsored and saw legislation enacted to make the Tallassee Board of Education elected from districts representing the city council districts.
