A Tallassee woman avoided prison time following a plea deal related to financial abuse of the elderly.

Ari Collins, 41, of Tallassee, was sentenced by 19th Judicial Circuit Court Judge Amanda Baxley to a suspended 24-month prison term, a fine of $5,000 and $3,400 restitution to three victims. The sentencing was part of a plea deal accepted first by the 19th Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s office. Collins was originally charged with two counts of financial exploitation of the elderly, third-degree theft, two counts of fraudulent use of a credit or debit card and three counts of third-degree possession of a forged instrument. Dismissed as part of Collins’ plea agreement were two counts of fraudulent use of a credit or debit card and three counts of third-degree possession of a forged instrument, all felonies.
